Laura Madeline Eichenberg Cameron, who was born on April 28, 1936, to John and Vera (Youngs) Eichenberg in Hawkins (Paris), Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
During her lifetime she was a farmer, accomplished horse trainer and owner, and Innkeeper. However, her greatest career was being a member of the Third Order of the Franciscans in the Roman Catholic Church. As a member she accompanied the Blue Army while spreading the Gospel and distributing bibles and rosaries throughout Europe and China. She was also instrumental in establishing the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Francis Catholic Church in Petoskey, Michigan. She was a great fan of Eternal Word Television Network’s (EWTN Global Catholic Network) and in the 1990’s influenced local cable companies to carry the channel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Eichenberg (Kailing), her brother Donald (Barb) Eichenberg, sister Evelyn (Lloyd) Wright, daughter Lori Ann (Tim) Schafer, granddaughter Krista Schafer and grandson Kyle Schafer.
She is survived by her sisters, Frances (Robert) Kesling, Marilynn (Claud) Tiff, Patricia (Edward) Munger, Ursula (Ted) Huesing, Alisa (Jim) Straus, as well as her children Daniel (Nancy) Todd, David Todd, Darcy (Lynette) Todd, Tina (Jeff) Roelofs, and Jamie Gawne, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great –grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for the family will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church located at 23949 22 Mile Road, Paris, Michigan 49338; with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am. Graveside Committal Services to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery located across the road from St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Paris, Michigan. Luncheon following at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Community Room located at 831 South Chestnut, in Reed City, Michigan 49677.
