Charlotte McNeil Bishop, 95 years young, passed away at home in Marion, in her sleep peacefully, on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on July 15, 1929 to Donald and Dorothy (Wiggins) McNeil. Charlotte married James Harley Bishop, in Flint on December 18, 1948 and they made their home in Waterford where she drove school bus, waitressed at Richardson’s Farm Dairy and was a former den mother for Cub Scouts.
They moved to Hartwick Township in Osceola County from Waterford in 1993. Beginning in the late 90’s they chased the warmer weather to surround themselves with gorgeous scenery and lots of sunshine in Bradenton, Florida for over 20 years. Charlotte stayed busy gardening, crocheting and continuing to collect salt and pepper shakers. For many years Charlotte was an active member of Evart TOPS.
Charlotte was fiercely loyal to her loved ones and wanted to see them succeed. She is survived by: five children- who knew not to push her too far and that she could be a force to be reckoned with- Tim of Evart, Tom (Cheryl) of Marion, George (Judy) of Attica, Susan (Robert) Johnson of Brooksville, KY and Dennis Bishop of Gordy Grove, GA; one sister, Sharon (Dale) Sneller of Clio; brothers, Gary (Connie) of Auburn Hills and Larry McNeil of Sears; 21 grand children who said she was the kindest and sweetest grandmother ever, 28 great grandchildren with one on the way, one great great grandson and lots of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Charlotte was preceded in death by: her husband of 68 years, James H. Bishop; daughter, Nancy L. Galbraith; four siblings; Karen Alexander and Donald, Kenneth & Richard McNeil and her parents, Dorothy and Donald McNeil.
Charlotte will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on October 26th at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion. Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Corey Funeral Home in Evart. Share online at coreyfuneralhome.com
