Connie Grimes, 83, of Barryton, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born on January 10, 1941, in Mecosta, Michigan, to William “Lyman” and Viola (Mae) Tyler.

On January 3, 1986, Connie was united in marriage to Dale Grimes. She dedicated over 30 years to Barryton Elementary, working as a teacher's aide and playground supervisor. Through her years at the school, she touched the lives of many children, watching multiple generations grow and thrive under her care. Connie found joy in helping the kids, always offering a kind smile and gentle guidance.

In her later years, Connie loved crocheting, creating handmade gifts for her grandchildren. She was also an avid reader and could often be found with a book in hand, solving crossword puzzles, or enjoying her favorite soap operas. Above all, her family meant the world to her.

Connie is survived by her devoted husband, Dale Grimes; her children, Theresa McMasters, Penny (Naaman) Huffman, Veronica "Boogzie" Hartman, and Carl "Joe" (Tami) Hartman; her 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Joyce (Harold) Boerma and Bill (Lola) Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lyman and Viola Tyler, and her siblings, Betty, Buck, Ronnie, Barb, Jimmy, Randy, and Bonnie..

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Daggett Funeral Home, Barryton. Visitation took place one hour before the service, starting at 10:00 A.M. Connie will be laid to rest at Flake Cemetery in Barryton.
