Barbara Walters, age 87 of Evart, MI, passed away peacefully with her Son and Daughter at her side, on November 5, 2024, in Midland, MI. She was born on November 30, 1936, in Dighton, MI, to Frank and Edith McClain. She was preceded in death by: her Husbands, Vern Hodges in 1985 and Bill Walters in 2000; Daughter, Dawn Sigbee in 2012; Grandson, Andy Hodges in 2005; Stepson, Lonnie Walters, Great grandchildren, Marcus & Tristan Shearer and Shayla Lane; Sister, Loraine Dyer; Special companion, Norm Dortman and Very special friend, June Hodges.
She survived by: her son, Fritz (Laura) Hodges of Rodney; Daughters, Mary (Randy) Codling of Midland and Angela Aten of Traverse City; Stepsons, Mike (Annette) Walters and Chris (Vikki) Walters of Evart; Brother, Gary (Carole) McClain of Centerville; Sister, Karen MacNeil of Virginia and many Grandchildren, Great and Great Great Grandchildren.
Barb was the best mother a child could ever have. Her husband, Vern raised their children on the family farm. Giving them a fabulous, fun-filled and hard-working loving childhood. She always had nieces and nephews on a daily basis that had a great impact on their lives. She was a master gardener and talented cook. She could make something delicious out of anything that could feed an army.
