Norma “Joyce” Jones, lifelong resident of Evart, went home to be with the Lord, in the same home as her birth, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in the presence of her family. Joyce was born on February 17, 1940, in Evart, to Clyde Otto and Sarah “Grace” (Bissett) Brininstool. In her 84 years, she was always active in the Evart community, as a volunteer at the Evart Historical Society, United Way and various other local events. Joyce utilized her associate’s degree as an owner and operator of a bookstore where she sold the jewelry that she created. She was a dedicated employee at Yoplait where she was involved in the Union until she retired from Yoplait in the late 1990s.
Joyce traveled throughout the United States with her mother, she was an avid reader and loved country music, especially the Grand Ole Opry. Joyce was a force to be reckoned with at the Bingo Hall. Joyce was fiercely independent, straightforward, strong-willed and known to be “a hoot” and the life of the party. Her honesty, selfless nature and loving heart were just as evident as her quick witted sense of humor.
Joyce’s commitment to her family was unwavering, not only to her immediate family but friends as well. Those who will feel her loss the most are; her five children, Brian Galloway, Lance Way, Keith (Wanda) Galloway, Jerry Hamelink, and Lisa (Rob) Pierce; her 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; sister, Edna “Louise” Hanninen; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Joyce is now reunited with: her parents, Clyde and Grace; children, Anita Hawkins and Kevin Galloway; grandson, Kevin Ray Galloway II; great-great-grandson, Tabias Race and siblings, Gladys Myers, and Dale & Kenneth Brininstool.
Cremation and care were entrusted to the Corey Funeral Home in Evart. No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life may be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be shared online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com for the family of N. Joyce Jones.
