Debra Z. Lockwood, 66, of Evart, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on December 12, 2024, with the compassion and care of the staff at Ascension Borgess in Kalamazoo. Debra was born on August 24,1958 in Grand Rapids, to Norman Treadwell and Freda May Gerard. In 1972 she moved to Evart from Cadillac and graduated from E.H.S in 1976. Debra was the Head of Christian Education as well as the Youth Director at the Evart Free Methodist Church, where she faithfully attended for many years.
Debra lived her life as a child of God and devoted it to family and friends. She had a talent for making crafts and enjoyed the theater. Debra had a servant-like heart and loved helping anyone that needed it. Debra had a way of making you feel loved and special. A recent example is being concerned with getting Christmas gifts for her family before she went to glory.
Those left to miss her dearly are; her siblings, Kris (Glen) Clark, Amy Kushmaul, Barbara (Medo) Fernandez and Tracy (Jeff) Guerin; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved cat, Kit; church family, extended family and friends.
Debra was preceded in death by: her parents, Freda (William) Kushmaul and Norman Treadwell; grandparents, William and Wilma Gerard and brother, Bill (LeeAnn) Kushmaul Jr; Beloved Aunt, Yvonne Gerard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Evart Free Methodist Church. Join Debra’s family at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2024 for visitation at the Evart Free Methodist Church. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Russ Atherton and Mark Bullock officiating and all are welcome to stay for a luncheon after the services.
