James E. Dyer, age 79, of Evart, left this world and is now able to stroll around heaven. He passed into glory on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Autumnwood of McBain where he has resided the last year. Jim was born in Flint on February 21, 1945 and raised in Lake City by William and Pearl (Vuillemot) Moss. In 1965, Jim entered into the United States Army where he spent 13 months serving in Korea, before his honorable discharge in 1967, as a Sergeant E5. He moved back home to Lake City and then to Marion for a while before moving to Evart in the mid 80’s.
He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Evart, until his health declined and he wasn't able to attend. Jim's church family didn't hesitate to stop in for visits which he was very appreciative of. His relationship with the Lord put a smile on his face, gave him the drive to do whatever he truly put his mind to, and courage to pass out literature regarding the message of salvation and God’s love. Jim loved to walk, so sharing God’s word was the perfect fit. He was an avid reader, known to be a character and often had a comment for anything.
Even though his neuropathy frustrated him he didn't let that stop him from doing what he wanted. Left to remember his determined spirit, God and family are those he was closest to and their families: brother, Earl (Nicke) Dyer of Lake City; half-sister, Diane (Robert “Bob”) Hicks of Evart and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by: his siblings, Luella “Grace” (Charles) Bolen, Pearl “Dollie” (Rodney) Scarbro, Edward (Betty) Dyer and Dorothy Vaughan; half sister, Mona Smith and parents, Pearl (William) Moss and Earl D. Dyer Sr.
