Mrs. Judith Ann Marsh was born July 2, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to James H. and Verna R. (Fletcher) DuVall. By the time Judy settled in Evart at age 30, she had lived in Germany, California, Oklahoma, Oahu, New Mexico, and several communities throughout southeast Michigan. Her unofficial duties as a U.S. Army sergeant’s spouse were to raise morale and strengthen cohesion among the dependent families. The Evart community knew her as the co-owner of The Choice Shoppe and as a volunteer with Little League and public school activities.
Judy’s family valued education beyond the foundations of childhood. After completing high school in Flat Rock and Brighton, she obtained secretarial and keypunch operator certificates. While working full-time, she took courses at her local junior college. Her curiosity led to lifelong learning adventures. She wanted to spend the rest of her life on the land and in the house that she built with family because it felt like a home of her own, and she did.
Judy was predeceased by: her husband, Lowell; son, Michael S.; her parents, James & Verna; sister, Mary Ellen (DuVall) Jacob; daughter-in-law, Jenni (Olson) and friend, Grace Phillips. She is survived by her siblings: Geraldine (Len) Oswald of Rogers, AR, and James F. (Chrystal) DuVall of San Jose, CA; children, Barbara (Stephen) McBride of Honor, MI, Jeffery (Carmen) Marsh of Huntsville, AL, and Timothy Marsh of Dexter, MI; grandchildren, Caitlin Marsh, Christina (Austin) Stemple, Jordan Marsh, Dylan McBride, Ryan Marsh, and Morgan Marsh. Also, she is survived by longtime friends, Nancy Phillips & Ray Aldrich, and Sharon Heberling; great-grandchildren; extended family and far-flung friends.
