A brother's love has no bounds. Ernest “Ernie” Booher, age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at home in Evart, with his family by his side. He was born May 30, 1944 in Evart, Michigan, to Darrel and Cleo (Knoop) Booher and graduated from Evart High School with the class of 1962. Ernie worked at Evart Products for 28.5 years where he retired as the shipping and receiving supervisor. While working for the Sault Saint Marie Tribe, as maintenance at the daycare, he met Carolyn O'Neil, who he married in 1997. They moved to Arizona and returned back home in 2018 when his wife's health began to decline. They were married in Sault Ste Marie and for 21 years she meant the world to him. When her face smiled, her eyes would shine and he longed to see that again.
Ernie enjoyed four wheeler rides, putting picture puzzles together, and cutting trees. He will be remembered as a great man, who was always considerate of, and helpful to others. A hard working blue collar man, with a great sense of humor, who was also known for being stubborn at times, but in a good way, that was beneficial to others. He was very outgoing, and was always able to strike up a conversation with anyone, he’ll be missed by many.
He is survived by: his children, Tim (Daylasue) Booher, Lori (Shawn) Copeman, Tonya (Bob) Henderson, Holly (Joe) Schaffer, and Gary Vanmidde; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister in law, Janice Booher; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
Ernie was preceded in death by: wife,Carolyn; his parents and siblings, Bonnie (James) McKay, Darwin Booher (who meant the world to him), and Linda Sherman.
Ernie and Carolyn will be laid to rest in Cherry Valley Cemetery, Hartwick Township, Michigan. Cremation and care have been entrusted to the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, Michigan.
