Joan Freudenburg, 86, of Magnolia, AR, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, AR.
Born on June 9, 1938, in Detroit, MI. Joan was a graduate of Detroit Lutheran High School. She had a career as a case manager in Detroit's Department of Social Services and retired to Alabama, where she became a Master Gardener and a Master Quilter. She had a special fondness for nature and enjoyed her family homestead in Evart, MI.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Charles and Vivian Wanita Eldridge Schouw and husband, Ronald Edward Freudenburg. She is survived by her three children, Rachel Freudenburg and husband Andreas Thomas of Somerville, MA and their children, Alice Thomas and husband André Stevens-Rosa of Madrid, Spain, and their children, Arlo and Leo; Beth Freudenburg and husband Dr. Helmut Langerbein of Magnolia, AR, and their children, Jackson Cymerman of Starkville, MS and Benjamin Cymerman of Ft. Worth, TX; Ethan Freudenburg and wife Georgianna of Seattle, WA and their son Rainy Chamberlain of Seattle; two brothers, Paul A. Schouw of Bainbridge Island, WA and Arthur John Schouw and wife Kat McAlpin of Bitely, MI; and a host of beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. Interment of ashes will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart, MI Osceola County on May 8th at noon.
