Larry Ralph Lauman, 85, of Evart

Larry Ralph Lauman, age 85, of Evart passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2025 at Medilodge of Clare. He was born to Ralph A. and Vera Margaret (Arndt) Lauman on June 17, 1939. He graduated from Evart High School with the class of 1957.

Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1962 to 1967 where he received an honorable discharge. Larry served as a 2nd Class Petty Officer with the Sixth Fleet in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Caribbean Seas. He married Deana Lou Tryon on October 19, 1985, at the North Evart German Church. Larry was happy to help anyone he could with anything they needed.

Larry was president of the Wharton 4-H Club, where he showed dairy cattle. He continued his involvement as a 4-H leader in dairy cattle for 4-H youth. For twelve years, Larry was employed at Evart Products and worked with Marshall "Red" Waldron of Waldron Well Drilling. He enjoyed farming, raising crops and cattle, and also helped his uncle, William Lauman, with his farm. He was an excellent welder and was able to easily maintain and modify any machinery or make household repairs that he encountered.

His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, working in his shop, carpenter work with his father, photography, including wedding photography, snowmobiling and going to the U.P. with friends. Larry also enjoyed riding ATVs and motorcycles with his granddaughters and niece. Larry was a life member of Evart Lodge #320 F&AM and was PostMaster of the Lodge in 1970 and 1971. He was a member of the DeWitt Clinton Consistory, 32nd Degree, and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended the North Evart German Church and the Evart Free Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the Evart V.F.W. #7979.

Larry is survived by: his son, Steven Lauman; granddaughters, Jesika (Leutz) Ayers, Jayme (Leutz) Smith, Jacqui (Leutz) Gorczewicz and Alysas (Lauman) Marsh; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by: his daughter, Tamara (Lauman) Clarady; two granddaughters and his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in Larry’s name, can be made to, Osceola County 4 H Council, c/o Jayme Smith. Graveside services for family and close friends will take place 1PM Friday, May 23rd at Osceola Township Cemetery, Evart, Michigan.
