Cynthia (Cindy) M. Roberts, 79

Cynthia (Cindy) M. Roberts, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025.

Cindy was born on December 7, 1945, in Big Rapids, Michigan, to Thomas and Maycle (Hoffman) Malcolm. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Big Rapids High School and Ferris State College.

On June 24, 1967, Cindy married her high-school sweetheart, Edward Roberts. Together they shared 38 beautiful years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, love, and family. They cherished time spent at their family cottage on Lilley Lake near Baldwin, Michigan—especially during hunting season, summer weekends, and family vacations.

Cindy developed a passion for roller-skating at a young age, going on to compete in roller dance competitions and proudly winning several alongside her skating partner. Her dedication, grace, and competitive spirit shone both on and off the rink.

Professionally, Cindy gave 44 years of loyal service to Ferris State University, retiring in June 2010. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her love for her family—especially her grandchildren—and her enthusiasm for shopping trips.

Cindy will be remembered most for her deep devotion to her family, her warm heart, and her ability to find joy in life’s everyday moments. She touched many lives and leaves behind countless memories for those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, and her parents, Thomas and Maycle Malcolm. She is survived by her children, Heather (Lyle) Tolfree of Traverse City and Thomas (Susan) Roberts of Hersey; her cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel Tolfree, and Allison, Steven, and Lauren Roberts; and her brother, Ronald (Joyce) Malcolm of Grand Rapids.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City on August 25 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to Hartland Hospice.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Big Rapids Fields and Hartland Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Cindy’s final days.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
