Robert Jay Beardslee, 61

Robert Jay Beardslee, age 61, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Born on August 15, 1964, in Lakeview, Michigan, Robert was the beloved son of LeRoy Beardslee and Linda (Maxfield) Beardslee of Edmore. A true jack of all trades, Robert spent many years in the construction union before founding his own business, Beardslee Construction. Later in life, he embraced potato farming, always taking pride in hard work and self-reliance. There wasn’t much Robert couldn’t do—or figure out how to do. His hands-built homes, fixed engines, and prepared meals with love and skill. Robert had a generous heart and a passion for cooking. His home was a place of warmth, laughter, and full bellies—you never left hungry. He cherished time with his children and grandchildren, who were undeniably his pride and joy. He enjoyed traveling to campgrounds, where he could relax and soak up the simple joys of nature. He also had a deep love for music, which filled his life with rhythm and soul. On January 27, 2005, Robert married Kim Clark of Edmore.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Beardslee; his mother, Linda Beardslee; and five children: Heather Bogart (Gordy Bogart), Rachel Avery (Scott Avery), Jennifer Beardslee, Cody Beardslee, and Cruz Beardslee. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mason, Olivia (Bogart), Audrey, Kylee, Harper, Ellie Jo (Avery), Everly Johnson, and Ophelia Foster. Robert leaves behind his brother, Bill Beardslee; sister, LeAnn Beardslee; brother-in-law, Bill Rogers; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Beardslee; grandparents, Eileen and Owen Beardslee; and grandparents, Gladys and Clyde Maxfield.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 3rd at New Beginnings Church, 1154 Fleck Rd, Six Lakes, MI. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM and a luncheon to honor Robert’s memory.

Robert’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the meals he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
