Daryl Charles Tiedt, 88

Daryl Charles Tiedt, age 88, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Corewell Big Rapids Hospital. He was born in Evart, MI, on March 20, 1937, to Ernest F. and Audrey C. (Osborn) Tiedt. In 1955, he graduated from Evart High School, and in 1960, honorably, served his country in the United States Army.

On January 1, 1961, he married Linda Ann Johnston in Evart, where they made their home and raised their family. Throughout the years, Daryl was not only involved in his family’s lives but also served the community. He was a former Boy Scout leader, served on the Evart Planning Commission, and was an avid member of the VFW, Model A Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was employed as a maintenance serviceman for Jenkins Oil Company in Marion for many years.

Daryl enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling (most notably to Australia), taking countless road trips, and camping. He was generous, funny, happy, caring, and loved life. Daryl was not shy about being social and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Left to treasure the memories they have are: loving wife of 64 years, Linda of Evart; son, Bryan (Cyndi) Tiedt of Sears; four grandchildren, Emily Tiedt of Montgomery, AL, Alyse Tiedt of Vancouver, BC, Canada, Alex Tiedt of Chicago, IL, and Hannah Tiedt of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; two sisters-in-law, Lou Anna and Loretta Tiedt both of Evart and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two sisters, Ernestine (Czerney) Blake and Connie (Bob) Holloway; and two brothers, Eddie and Duane Tiedt.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place through Corey Funeral Home in Evart. Family and friends are encouraged to spend time sharing memories from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday, November 29th, at the funeral home, concluding with military honors under the auspices of VFW Post 7979 and AmVet Post 11.
