Sandra Bernice Eschenweck, 63, of Evart, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2026. Sandra was the heart of her home, a woman whose deep love for her family was her greatest life’s work and her proudest achievement.
Born in Berkeley, Illinois, on March 17, 1962, to Carl and Rhea (Clark) Huey, Sandra moved to Michigan with her parents when she was 16 years old. Not long after, in 1980, she met Donald, beginning a beautiful 45-year journey together. They were married in Reed City in 1984 and built a life rooted in Evart. In 1986, their family became complete with the birth of their daughter, Hope.
Sandra was fiercely dedicated to her family. It was her primary focus and her greatest joy, they often joked that keeping everyone in line was a full-time job. Her home was filled with her creative spirit; she had a lifelong passion for crafting and painting. The way her eyes would light up when she was working on something special is a memory. Her laughter was a gift and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family.
She embraced life fully, savoring every moment. She loved traveling with Don, whether they were camping, fishing, sightseeing, or simply gathered around a table playing cards and board games. She believed deeply in core values, in togetherness, and in the kind of quality family time that becomes the foundation of a lifetime. She was so much more than a wife and mother — she was a true friend, a steady shoulder to lean on, and the rock our family depended on. She taught countless lessons, and it feels as though she still had so much more wisdom left to share. Mom was our closest companion, confidant and best friend.
She was a true example of what unconditional love truly looks like and what it means to be a genuine friend. Her absence will be felt by everyone who knew her. The bond she shared with her one and only granddaughter was something rare and beautiful — the two of them were inseparable, thick as thieves.
She was preceded in death by; her parents and many uncles and aunts and other family members.
Those who will miss her most and carry on her legacy are; husband, Don; beloved daughter, Hope (Eric) Sandelius; adored granddaughter, Sarah Sandelius, all of Evart; sister, Peggy (Randy) Peters of Big Rapids; brother, Brian (Tammy) Huey of Florida.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date and information will be updated as it becomes available.
Those closest to her will forever cherish the memories they made together. Upholding her values by carrying her spirit with them, passing on the warmth, kindness, and love she gave so freely. Cremation and care have been entrusted to Corey Funeral Home in Evart, Michigan, share online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com .
