Doreen Marie Dellar, 76, of Big Rapids passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
She was born February 27, 1949, in Grand Rapids to Allen and Ethel Forbes, the eldest of 5 siblings. Doreen graduated from Flint high school and studied nursing at Central Michigan University.
Doreen spent most of her years working as a caregiver to teach and enable independent living. She loved and cared for those she served as family. She also volunteered for several nonprofit organizations including the Red Cross and Special Olympics.
Doreen lived a life of service, finding great joy in giving and caring for others. Her favorite word was Love…she truly embodied love by intentionally showing kindness, compassion and understanding to everyone in her life. She had a deep faith in God and loved attending fellowship meetings in the homes of her friends. She cherished reading her Bible and singing hymns.
Doreen’s love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren was unconditional. She loved sharing her hobbies and faith with them. She enjoyed hearing about their experiences and accomplishments and sharing those with others.
Doreen had many hobbies including painting, gardening and cooking. She had a passion for trying new recipes and modifying classic recipes with healthier ingredients. She liked to learn about natural remedies, always sharing helpful tips with friends and family.
Doreen is survived by her two sons, Robert (Amy) Dellar, and Bronson (Monica) Dellar, as well as 8 grandchildren, Caleb Dellar, Cody (Alyssa) Dellar, Briannda (Josh) Luce, Holden Dellar, Aubrey Dellar, Caleb Harris, Ben Harris, Amber Dellar, and 9 great grandchildren. Doreen is also survived by a sister, Dorthea Haynes, a brother, Rex Forbes as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Dawn, her sister Deloris, and brother Ray.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral home in Reed City, MI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Comfort Home in Reed City, Michigan where she spent her last days in their loving care.
