Roger Lyndon Cool passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, in Tustin, MI.
Roger was born on July 2, 1943, in Cadillac to Lloyd and Jennie (Jensen) Cool. He graduated from Tustin High School in 1962 and was a member of the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 before attending Ferris State College. In 1966 he married Margaret Ann Edstrom who preceded him in death in 2007.
Roger lived his entire life in the Leroy/Tustin area, earning his living working road construction, truck driving and logging. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, going for drives and learning about local history. During his retirement years he spent his winters in Gila Bend, Arizona, where he enjoyed visiting with extended family, exploring the desert and tinkering with his Willys Jeep.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Andrea Seavey (James) of Leroy, JoAnn Connor (Michael) of Hessel, three grandchildren: Alexandra “Lexie” Connor, Olivia Connor and Zachary Connor, a brother, Bruce “Skip” Cool (Diane) of Leroy, and brother-in-law and good friend Pete Peterson, along with many nieces and nephews. Roger was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, a brother Lloyd “Ron” Cool, five sisters: Alice Cool, Doris Jenter, Lois Wengelewski, Phyllis Mattzela and Janice Peterson.
The family would like to express appreciation to Tustin House where Roger resided for the last several years, and to Munson Hospice. Both of these organizations provided care with compassion, kindness and understanding during Roger’s final days.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow at Travlers Bar & Grill in Leroy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine River Historical Society.
