Harrison “Mike” Dewitt Blanchard, age 74 of Chase, MI passed away peacefully at the Corewell Health Reed City Hospital Skilled Nursing Center on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
He was born June 9, 1951, in Chase, MI to Charles Dewitt and Norma Jean (Clark) Blanchard and was a 1969 graduate of Reed City High School. Harrison attended college in Ohio and was awarded a technical degree in Mechanical Drafting. He served his country honorably during the Viet Nam War in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 until the end of his enlistment in 1974 and for two more years in the National Guard. Over his lifetime, he held several jobs with numerous employers including the oil fields near Gaylord, MI, with the Baldwin Lumber Yard, McQuestion Construction through the Operating Engineers Union Local #324, and Donley Trucking as a freight hauler before working for himself excavating with heavy equipment and selling firewood on the side. Harrison dearly loved his daughter and grandchildren and was a lover of the outdoors and an avid sportsman.
He is survived by his daughter Sabrina Blanchard of Chase, MI; grandchildren Stewart Smith (Abigail Lewis), Ethan Phillips, Sophia Phillips, and Paisley Bellgraph; siblings Melody (Ralph) Pettey of Clio, MI, Jeannette (Alley) Todd of Paris, MI, Cynthia (Curtis) Miller of Baldwin, MI, Patti (Darrell) Blanchard-Marvel of Big Rapids, MI, Dawn (Wayne) Pratt of Reed City, MI, John (Sonya) Blanchard of Chase, MI, and Joni Blanchard of Reed City, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Norma Jean Blanchard; wife Regina (Lavalle) Blanchard; his sister Sally Marr; and brother-in-law Danny Gramer.
