On Monday, February 9, 2026, Heaven gained a beautiful soul, when Debra Jean Dodd, 65, of Evart, was welcomed into those Pearly Gates. She was a woman of hard work, loyalty, and a remarkably gentle spirit. Born to Darwin and Mary (Stuivenga) Dodd on November 25, 1960 in Napoleon, Ohio, she leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and the simple joys of life.
Debra was a person who truly loved nature and found peace in the outdoors. The only thing she loved more than spending time in nature was the time she spent with family. She was known as the person everyone could count on—a loyal friend and a cornerstone for those she loved. She could crochet like nobody's business and she loved to make mittens and hats for the littles in her life. Debra didn’t hesitate to volunteer her green thumb to try to help those who weren't as successful in their gardens. Debra was always the first to help others whenever there was a need.
She had a vibrant, playful personality and was often found modeling hats at Walmart to bring a smile to those around her. Debra had a special passion for all things unicorn—a fitting symbol for her unique and magical presence in the lives of her family. Whether she was mud bogging, attending a Hunks ™ show, or spending Friday nights at the bowling alley, she embraced life with a fun-loving heart.
Debra was preceded in death by: her mother, Mary (Harold) Reedy; father, Darwin (Norma) Dodd; two sisters, Ruth Biller and Carol Weeks; nieces, Nicole Dodd and Chasity Lauman and her beloved dog, Dutchess.
Her memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind, including siblings; Pat Beemer, Mary Lauman, Robert Dodd, and Cindy Dodd numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will miss her deeply. Her loyal companion, Dozer, also survives her.
Debra will be remembered for her work ethic and her kindness. She lived her life with passion and leaves the world a little brighter for having been in it.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made to assist with final expenses during this difficult time.
Cremation and care have been entrusted to Corey Funeral Home. Services will be announced at a later date.
