Sheldon M. Handy, of Evart, passed away peacefully Monday, May 25, 2026 at Big Rapids Fields. He was 93.

Mr. Handy was born March 2,1933 in Detroit to Sheldon P. and Helen (Irwin) Handy. At the age of 17 he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in the spring of 1953. On October 24, 1953 he married Barbara L. Aubry at the Covenant Community Church in Redford Township.

Sheldon worked for Ford Motor Company and after he and Barbara retired to the Evart area from Redford Township in 1988, he spent as much time as he could gardening, fishing, bowling and golfing. He was a member of the UAW and Evart Moose Lodge.

Sheldon is survived by: their children, Deborah (Jim) Naber of Holland, Kathryn (Charles) Lynch of Reed City, Sherrie (Steve) Williams of Redford, Paul (Merlyn) Handy of the Philippines, Arthur Handy of Pinckney, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 67 years, Barbara in 2020, two granddaughters, Michelle Mangold and Deanna Jerore, one sister, Beverly Blalock, half brother, Paul Jackson and his parents.

A Celebration of Life honoring Sheldon will be held from Noon until 5:00pm, Saturday, May 30th at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Military Honors at 1:00pm. Condolences can be left online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com
