Michael Stilin, age 71 of Evart, formerly of Thompsonville/Cadillac, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at home with loved ones, Billie and Roberta, at his side. Michael was born on March 18, 1955, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to William and Elizabeth (Waddle) Stilin.

He was raised in Mellen until he entered the United States Navy at the age of 17.Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mike made his home in Wisconsin, where he worked at his family’s logging business. He eventually moved to Pennsylvania, where he was a charter fish captain and over-the-road truck driver. If there was a fish he could see, he could catch it. A story he never got tired of telling was in 1998, when he guided a lucky angler to landing a world record 33-pound coho salmon. His mate from the ’90s put it best: “Mike was one of the best in his time in Oswego before migrating to Michigan to target more salmon.”

Mike was devoted and hardworking. He was also an avid vintage snowmobile builder and had won several awards and races throughout the years. Mike’s time on earth seems too short. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Treasuring the memories they have are his girlfriend of 10 years, Billie Holmes-Case of Evart, and his sister, Roberta Parrish. He is also survived by his son, Zachary (Suzy) Stilin, and their son, Xavier; his father, William Stilin; siblings, Kay Lineham and Paul Stilin; seven nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and extended family and friends.Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Stilin; maternal and paternal grandparents; and a little sister.
