Shana Larsen, 51

Shana Marie Larsen, 51, passed away on August 2, 2026. She was born May 16, 1975 in Petoskey, the daughter of James McGuinness and Joyce Blasko. a woman whose vibrant spirit, strength, and unmistakable spunk brightened the lives of everyone who knew her.

Shana lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with determination, laughter, and a generous heart. Sunshine was Shana’s lifeline. She could often be found outside in the summertime, soaking up the rays and the heat. You would be hard pressed to find Shana wearing any shoes that weren’t flip flops. She found joy in boating on the river, soaking in breathtaking sunsets, spending time on the golf course, tending to her garden, and preparing delicious meals for the people she loved. Whether gathered with family, sharing stories with friends, or enjoying the companionship of her beloved husband, Don and her crazy dogs and those of any dog that entered her household, Shana made every moment special.

For many years, Shana dedicated her career where she served as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. She was respected for her strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to protecting and caring for those around her. The friendships she built throughout her career were a testament to the kindness and integrity she carried into every aspect of her life.

Above all, Shana's greatest love was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Don, whose unwavering love and partnership were the foundation of a life filled with countless cherished memories. Together they shared adventures, laughter, and a love that will endure forever.

She is also survived by her “Mom”, Charlene Larsen, “brother” Dale Larsen, brother Alex McGuinness, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shana was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce, and father, Bud; as well as her “Dad” Mike Larsen, whose memories she carried with her always.

While her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, they find comfort in knowing that Shana is now free from pain, restored, and whole again. Her courage, infectious smile, generous heart, and zest for life will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Though we will miss her deeply, we will forever carry her spirit with us—in every sunset over the river, every bloom in the garden, every laugh shared among friends, and every memory made with those we love.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

To carry on Shana’s loving spirit of animals, in lieu of flowers, monetary donations, pet food and/or supplies may be made in Shana’s memory to an organization of your choice to help the health, wellness and care of animals in need to carry on her loving spirit of animals.

A celebration of Shana's life will be held at the Elk Lodge in Big Rapids, located at 203 E Pine Street, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
