Dominic “Dom” Michael Richmond, 26, of Mecosta, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Christopher and Lori Richmond on March 12, 2000.
Dom was a hardworking, determined young man who always needed a purpose and never shied away from hard work. He started out as a teenager working at Hearty Harvest and for the Wernette's, he went on to learn carpentry from Will Benton and then decided to become self employed as a general contractor and taking on just about any job that needed to be done.
He loved baseball and was an exceptional player. He started out in Little League in Lakeview and moved up to a traveling baseball team as a teen, helping his team capture a championship by driving in runs with two doubles.
Like his Grandpa Hunt, Dom had a passion for hunting and fishing and loved spending his time outdoors.
One of the most meaningful parts of Dom’s life was his service with the fire department. He was a member of the Morton Township Fire Department and the Chippewa Lake-Martiny Township Fire Department. The fire department gave Dom something he always needed—a purpose, a team, and a way to serve others. He took great pride in being there when people needed him. He considered the fire department his second family.
Dom was full of life from the very beginning. He was a handful as a child, outspoken, strong-willed, and never afraid to say exactly what he thought. When Dom knew what he wanted, he went after it. That determination, along with his big personality and even bigger heart, made him unforgettable.
Above all, Dom loved his family and his dog Turbo. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and hanging out with his siblings. He was deeply loved by his family and will be remembered for his laughter, his stubborn determination, his willingness to work, and the countless memories he made with those around him.
Dom is survived by his parents, Christopher and Lori Richmond; grandmother, Daryl Hunt; siblings, Danielle Richmond, Andrew Richmond, Derek Richmond, Brianna Gould, Patrick Richmond, Moira Kraus, Sophia Richmond, Brendan Richmond, and Keegan Richmond, Sister-n-Law Heather Richmond, Brothers-n-law, Dennis Gould and Ben Kraus, and his nieces and nephews, Liam, Olivia, Harlee, Hudson, Willow, and Bryleigh.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lynn Hunt, and grandparents, John and Phyllis Richmond.
