Jessica Lynn McCallie, 51, of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home in Norwich Township. Jessica was born November 1974 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Michael McCallie (Vicki), and Nancy Aubin, whom have both preceded her in death.

Jessica moved to Reed City as a child and in 1992 graduated from Reed City High School where she exceled and played several instruments including first chair clarinet. Jessica later attended Ferris State University earning her Certification as a Lab Phlebotomist which she then devoted the next 10 years at Mecosta County Medical Center. She later joined Schuberg's Bar & Grill, where she enjoyed working for over 20 years and was voted the area's favorite waitress. Many others will remember her for her big heart and relentless political activism with the Enbridge Line 5 Water Project, Bernie Sanders, and as a Green Party candidate. More recently Jessica had turned her attentions to homesteading and preserving the beauty of the Hungerford Lake area where she resided.

Jessica is survived by her daughter Frances Arquette (partner Julian Kennedy) and her father Jess Arquette; her siblings, Laura (McCallie) Rehaluk (Jeffrey), Selena McCallie (Destin), Nathaniel Southwell, Christopher Southwell, and Rachael (Crabb) Hanratty; as well as several beloved nieces & nephews including, Audrey (Rehaluk), Braedan Wheeler, Deon, Kristin, William, Sofia, Jackson and Charlotte (Hanratty). She was also preceded in death by siblings Kerensa (McCallie) Wheeler and Matthew McCallie.

A celebration of Jessica's life will be held on September 20th from 2-5pm at Hungerford Hills Farm, 7794 Skiberean Dr, Big Rapids, MI. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Family for the continued restoration and preservation of the Hungerford Lake.
