It is with heavy hearts that the family of Garlein Lou Dadles, 88, of Reed City, MI, shares that she was called home on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She will be remembered for her loving devotion to family.

Born on March 19, 1938, to Orie and Oneida (Niergarth) Erbes, Garlein grew up surrounded by the lively company of her four brothers. As a young girl, she overcame polio, a challenge that reflected the resilience she would carry throughout her life.

A 1956 graduate of Reed City High School, Garlein began her career with Fashion Industries, Inc. in Big Rapids, MI. On June 1, 1957, she married R. Gene Dadles, beginning a loving partnership that flourished for 61 years. Throughout her married life, Garlein dedicated herself to her home and family, finding joy in sewing, gardening, baking, and attending her grandchildren’s many activities. In Gene’s later years, Garlein faithfully cared for him through his illness until his passing in 2018. She also grieved the sudden loss of her son, Mark Dadles, in 2024.

Garlein is survived by her children, Roxanne (Richard) Freye of Paris, MI, and Linda (Jay) Miller of DeWitt, MI; her daughter-in-law, Vicki (Mark) Dadles of Big Rapids, MI; and her brothers, Garol (Tina) Erbes and Lamont (Nancy) Erbes and sister-in-law Laverne (Vernon) Erbes. She was a proud grandmother to Alicia (Andrew) Erickson, Ryan (Erin) Freye, Jessalyn (Tyler) Rumler, Rebecca (Mason) Templeton, and Hannah (Daniel) Collins, and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Gene Dadles; her son, Mark Dadles; and her brothers, Garth Erbes and Vernon Erbes.

Funeral services will take place at the Reed City Church of the Nazarene located at 5300 S 220th Avenue in Reed City, MI 49677, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service details will be arranged for the family at a later date.

Garlein’s legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
