Gregory Allon Roggow, 79

Gregory Allon Roggow of Evart passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was 79 years old.

Greg was born to Violet M. Roggow on 04/11/1947 in Reed City, Michigan. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, William and Hannah Roggow of Reed City. Greg graduated from Reed City High School in 1965 and was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky where he met the love of his life, Linda Jean Thacker. They were married on 08/05/1967 in Reed City Michigan.  Greg was sent to Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and left the Army July 1968. Greg and Linda had three children, Tonya (JR) Holmes of Reed City; Shawn (DeDe) Roggow of Lowell; and Shannon (Chris Mieras) Roggow of Hersey. Linda passed in 2008. They were married 41 years.

Greg and his friend, Sherry Stieg, decided to be there for each other and they have lived together for the last 17 years. Greg spent time with Sherry’s children: Jacob (Rene) Stieg of Hersey; Ray (Morgan) Stieg of Evart; and Elaine Stieg of Evart. He had 36 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Greg worked at Gardner Denver Factory in Reed City for 22 years, until they shut down.  He was also employed with Steve Knapp doing construction for 10 years. Greg decided he needed a change and was employed at Eagle Village of Hersey from 1987 until 2009 (22 years), when he retired. He enjoyed his retirement with family, friends, fishing, hunting, and going on annual trips with his best buddies (fishing, hunting, golf, and casino).

Greg enjoyed life to the fullest with his family and friends. You could always find him outside with a fishing pole, chainsaw, or gun and inside watching the Detroit Tigers. He was a great mentor to many people and continued to influence individuals in positive ways. There was one true thing you could count on for years was his diet coke and McMasters. Greg loved to help youth see their potential and give opportunities to meet their potential.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean (Thacker) Roggow; his sister, Robin (MacNeil Roggow) Wilkin; his mother, Violet M. Roggow; and his grandparents, William and Hannah Roggow. He is survived by his three children: Tonya (JR) Holmes; Shawn (Dede) Roggow; and Shannon (Chris Mieras) Roggow.
