Karen Louise Sanderson, 82, of Canadian Lakes, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 28, 1943, to Lowell and Emma Chrysler.

Karen was a devoted Catholic and a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, where her faith was an important part of her life. She was also a member of the Mecosta County Senior Center and enjoyed spending time in Canadian Lakes and gathering with friends for trivia at the Remus Tavern. Karen had a competitive spirit and a tenacious, determined personality.

After a long career in retail management and visual design, Karen loved to travel with her sisters and spent many winters in Florida. She enjoyed golf, an occasional trip to the casinos, and loved to bake, especially pies. Above all else, Karen was deeply devoted to her family. She was compassionate, giving, and especially loved family gatherings and the holidays.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Theresa Sanderson; her sons, Thomas Sanderson and Don (Stephanie) Sanderson; and her grandchildren, Patrick Lienau, Bridget Lienau, Brendan (Nicole) Lienau, Meaghan Lienau, and Quinn and Maisie Sanderson.

She is also survived by her siblings, Chris (Mary) Chrysler, Marilyn Hartwig Steele, Suzanne Chrysler, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Father Dan DePew will serve as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Cancer Foundation in Karen’s memory.
