Walter Curtis Ryno, age 78, of Evart, Michigan, passed away on September 17, 2026, in Evart.

Walt was born on November 15, 1947, in Howard City, Michigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Walt began a career as a heavy equipment operator, working for several excavation companies. He became a well-respected and valued heavy equipment operator throughout his career.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rita; his sisters, Phyllis (Gene) Ax and Carolyn Tessman; his son, Curtis (Amy) Ryno; his stepsons, Kenneth (Julie) Arthurs and John (Deanna) Arthurs; grandchildren Bailey, Chloe, Nicholas and Mykala; and great-grandchildren Chelsea and Maci.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara Cline, Vickie Waters, and Diana Kroll; and his brothers, Arthur, James, Ronald, Kenneth, and Rex Ryno.

Walt will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his hard work, and, most importantly, his love for his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9878 U.S. Highway 10, Evart, Michigan, with MASS at 11AM. Walt will be laid to rest with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. 

Memorial contributions in Walt’s name can be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
