David Russell Rasmussen, born October 25th, 1957, passed away September 27th, 2026, at Trinity Hospital, Grand Rapids, peacefully with his family by his side. David is survived by his loving wife, Susan Rasmussen (Hougthon) of 35 years. They were married on January 18th, 1991. His four children; Joshua (Diana) Iteen, Amanda Iteen (Jennifer Buttacavoli), Richard (Cheyanne) Rasmussen, and Cheyenne (Kellen) Ritter. His grandchildren; Zachary (Hannah) Iteen, Kari Iteen, Isabella Iteen, Mason Rasmussen, and Clint Ritter. His great grandchild, Marleen Iteen. His sister Rhonda (Larry) Stuckey, two nieces; Marisa (Chris) Toellner, Monique Stokely, his nephew; James Stokely, his great niece Sophie Toellner, his great nephew Graham Toellner. His uncle Bernard and Kay Rasmussen and his aunt Audrey and Jerry Crane.

He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Margaret (Smith) Rasmussen, his grandparents; Clark and Lelia (Ostrander) Rasmussen, and Alvin and Emma Lea (Mackie) Smith. His mother-in-law Theda (Decker) Houghton. And many aunts and uncles.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a devoted friend to all he knew. He worked at Federal Mogal for 36 years. His greatest passion was farming, his children, and his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and watching his children and grandchildren in sports, 4H, and all their other activities. David was a hardworking, giving man and instilled the same work ethic and generosity in his family. He loved to tell stories of all his adventures throughout his life to all his friends and family. He was a big man, with a big heart and would help anyone in any way that he could. He will be greatly missed by us all.

Please join his family on October 10th, 2026, to celebrate his life at his family’s home at 11477 Tamarack Rd, Lakeview, MI 48850 from 4:00pm on, with a bonfire to start at 8:00pm.
