Bessie Jane Rummins, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 85. A resident of Sears, Michigan, Bessie was born on September 19, 1941, in Parma, Michigan, to Jay Swift and Florence Vincent.
Bessie lived a life filled with family, love, and the simple joys that made life special. One of her greatest pleasures was living by the lake, where she found peace and happiness in the beauty of nature. She especially loved birdwatching, taking time to enjoy the birds and the quiet moments that made her home by the water so special. The lake was more than just a place to live; it was a place where she could find comfort, peace, and joy in the world around her.
Family was an important part of Bessie's life, and her love will live on through the many lives she touched. She is survived by her loving children: Robert J. Mudgett Jr., Kevin L. Mudgett, Richard R. (Robin) French Jr., Lynnette R. (Robert) French, Roger L. French, and Corey J. (Marie) French. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought love, happiness, and countless precious memories into her life.
Bessie will be remembered for the life she lived, the family she loved, and the memories she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to share in her life. The quiet beauty of the lake, the birds she loved to watch, and the many memories made with family will forever be a part of the legacy she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Richard R. French Jr. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Bessie's life, share memories, and celebrate the love she leaves behind.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Barryton, Michigan.
