Robert Charles Johnson, 95, of Stanwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2026, at The Brook of Big Rapids.

He was born September 11, 1931, in Big Rapids, the son of Gunnard and Charlotte (Gibson) Johnson. Robert graduated from Big Rapids High School and proudly served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He later worked for ANR Storage Company, where he remained until his retirement.

In 1951, Robert married the love of his life, Nadine, beginning a marriage that spanned 75 wonderful years. After retiring, Robert and Nadine enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their motor home, making memories and enjoying the adventures that retirement brought them.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nadine; his children, John (Kay) Johnson and Jayne (Gary) McIntyre; grandchildren, Callie Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Katherine (Johnny) Harrington, Jacob (Marisa) Johnston, Carrie (Cody) Johnston, and Dylan (Ashley) Johnston; and his great-grandchildren, Ben, Hannah, and Matthew Harrington, and Sawyer and Addison Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Nancy.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Michigan for their compassionate care and extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Brook of Big Rapids, especially Natalie, for the kindness and care shown to Robert.

A private graveside service will be held where Robert will be laid to rest beside his parents and daughter in the Stanwood Cemetery.
