Categories: Obituaries

Dora Eversole, 61, of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2026. She was born October 16, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Irene (Stanley) Charobee.
Dora graduated from Wayne Memorial High School and later moved to Big Rapids, where she spent most of her life. She was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith and had been active in her church for approximately 20 years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and one of her favorite sayings was, “All things are possible through Christ.” She found comfort and strength in reading Scripture and living out her faith each day.
Dora spent the largest part of her working years as a baker at Meijer, where she developed a special talent for decorating cakes. She took great pride in her work and cherished the friendships she formed with her coworkers. Before retiring, she also worked as a housekeeper at a local hotel, where she continued to show the dedication and care that were so much a part of who she was.
Dora married Carl Eversole on January 18, 1996. The two first met at a bakery in Detroit and were later married at a Baptist church in Morley, Michigan. Together, they shared nearly 30 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, and family.
In her free time, Dora enjoyed reading Scripture, watching Detroit Tigers games, talking on the phone with family, and loved watching her favorite TV shows. Above all else, her greatest joy was spending time with the people she loved. Family meant everything to Dora, and the time she shared with them was among her most treasured blessings.
Dora will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Carl; her children, Kellie Eversole, Torre (Robert) Gilbert, Felicia Scott, and Paul Scott (Jeffery); her many beloved grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart; and sisters, Julianna Bright and Marlene Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter Charobee, and sister Cathy Charobee.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Dora’s family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m.on Wednesday.
Dora’s faith, love for her family, and the memories she created with those closest to her will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
