Olga Elizabeth Wargo, age 100, of Stanwood, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, at The Comfort Home in Reed City.
Olga was born on September 22, 1926, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, to Louis and Wilma Hecey. Proud of her Hungarian heritage, Olga lived a long and beautiful life filled with faith, family, and gratitude.
In 1950, Olga married the love of her life, Emery “Jim” Wargo, and moved to the Detroit area, where they raised their family in Dearborn Heights. After 35 years there, they retired to Canadian Lakes in the early 1980s, where Olga enjoyed gardening and making her home a welcoming place for family and friends.
A devoted member of New Hope Global Methodist Church, Olga treasured her church family, Faith Circle meetings, and Lunch Bunch gatherings. Her faith brought her great comfort, and she loved listening to her favorite hymns and religious artists. When asked the secret to living to 100, Olga credited her attitude and gratitude.
Olga was an old-fashioned cook who loved preparing home-cooked meals and discovering new recipes. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, welcoming every cat and dog that found its way to her back door. Her kindness, warm hospitality, and love for all living things were a beautiful reflection of the life she lived.
Olga is survived by her beloved daughter, Candace (Halbert Adkins) Wargo; numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; and her cherished church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Emery “Jim” Wargo; and her son, Gordon Wargo.
A Celebration of a Good Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Global Methodist Church, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor Wayne McKenney will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be directed to The Comfort Home in Reed City Building Fund.
Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan.
