Brenda Lee Elerick passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Apr. 25, at the age of 63.

Brenda was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend . She will be deeply missed by all. Forever in our hearts, never forgotten. Brenda is lived on by her mother Patricia Vanderweide. Her children Mitch Totten, Michael (Destiny) Totten, Matthew Totten, and Brooke Sagen. Nine grandchildren and 12 great grandmother children.

She was proceeded in death by father Robert Elerick. A graveside service was held at Stanwood Cemetary on Monday, Apr. 28, at 1:30pm.

Cathleen (Cathy) Methner, 69

It is with both heavy hearts and grateful spirits that we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Cathleen (Cathy) Methner who left us after a courageous year-long journey with cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, joy, and deep connection.

Cathy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Vincent and Lila Doerr, and is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Eric, her daughter Jill Personett and son-in-law Brian, and her faithful grand-dog Horton, who never left her side. She is also lovingly remembered by her six siblings - Linda Hall (Vern), Barb Schepel, Bob Doerr (Loretta), Jeff Doerr (Roberta), Chris Summers (Phil), and Laurie Wilkins (Jim), and Eric's sister Brenda Huber, along with their families and many close friends.

To know her was to witness a quiet force of nature—someone who could out-hike us all or share a laugh on the trail. Her love of the outdoors was matched only by her love of people. Whether she was playing a fiercely competitive game of pickleball or just celebrating life with family and friends, she would always offer words of encouragement with a smile on her face.

She embodied health, vitality, and grace in ways that inspired everyone around her. It was almost impossible to keep up with her—not just on a hike, but in the way she loved, gave, and lived each day with purpose. She had a way of bringing joy without trying, or making people feel seen and heard without fanfare.

Her battle with cancer, though heartbreaking, was marked by her signature strength and a deep well of gratitude. Even in her most challenging moments, she continued to find beauty, to share kindness, and to remind us of all what really matters.

She leaves us with countless memories—morning walks, belly laughs, warm hugs, and gentle wisdom. While we mourn her physical absence, we celebrate the beautiful life she led and the way she made ours so much better.

In her honor, may we play the extra game, take the longer hike, love a little deeper, and remember that it’s often the simple things—a wag of a tail, a walk in the woods, a shared story—that make a life extraordinary.

She will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Corewell Health Hospice (1239 E Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525) in recognition of the extraordinary care they provided to her and the family over the last few weeks.

Robert "Bob" Cleon Moser, 75, of Reed Cit7

Robert "Bob" Cleon Moser, 75, a man of unwavering faith and boundless generosity, passed away peacefully at 2:28 a.m., Thursday April 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, at his home. He was born on December 7, 1949, the son of Cleon and Lois Moser. On April 25, 2009, Bob married Cindy K. Wall.

Bob's journey through life was marked by his dedication to service, his love for family, and his passion for the simple joys of life. A proud graduate of Reed City High School, Bob furthered his education by taking college courses that laid the foundation for his successful career as an electrician. His work with ANR Pipeline, followed by his tenure with the Hydaker-Wheatlake Company, showcased his skill and dedication to his craft. Even after his retirement, Bob continued to share his expertise with those in need, reflecting the selfless spirit that defined him.

He cherished opportunities to tend to his garden, with any reason to use his John Deere tractor being a cause for delight. His deep faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a longtime contributing member of the Reed City Church of the Nazarene. His commitment to his faith was evident not just in his words but in his actions, as he could often be found fixing things at church or pausing his own home projects to lend a helping hand to others.

Family time was Bob's greatest joy, and he was a beacon of love at family gatherings. He will be fondly remembered for the life lessons he imparted, teaching his children the value of hard work and the intricacies of caring for cars, lawns, and all things in need of repair. His legacy as a giving and loving father endures in the work ethic and skills he passed down to his family.

Conversations with Bob were never brief; he was genuinely interested in the lives of those he spoke with, seeking to understand the full scope of their experiences. His service as an honorably discharged United States Army Veteran was a source of immense pride, and he relished recounting his travels to Germany and the honor of serving his country.

Bob's love for history was another facet of his rich personality. He was drawn to the stories of places and things, often found reading historical plaques and sharing the fascinating details he uncovered. His adventurous spirit saw him walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day with his family and the governor of Michigan, a tradition he held dear.

In later years, Bob looked forward to his yearly Notre Dame outings with his oldest son, Chris. These excursions, complete with a football game and the grilling of exceptionally thick steaks, were cherished moments of father-son bonding.

Bob and his beloved wife, Cindy, also opened their hearts and home as foster parents, providing a nurturing and structured environment for children in need. Their commitment to caring for these young lives spoke volumes about their capacity for love and their desire to make a positive impact.

Faith-filled, handy, and selfless—these words capture the essence of Bob's character. His impact on the lives of those he touched was profound, and his memory will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Robert Cleon Moser's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of faith, and the enduring bonds of family. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.

His life was also greatly influenced by his beloved great grandmother Hilda Fraser and great uncles Tootsie and Harvey of Rogers Heights.

He served his country in Vietnam, boots on the ground, from 1969-1971. His PTSD intensified. When he returned home he went to work for GM at the Fisher Body plant in Flint.

Starting at a young age, Terry would do anything to earn a buck. As a kid, he picked up pop cans while riding his bike, he picked night crawlers on a golf course for a penny each, and he picked cherries for Stout's Orchard. because he was a big kid he was popular with the farmers, who hired him to help with hay and other chores. Later while working at GM he volunteered for extra hours, he would make food to sell to his coworkers and he ran numbers. This man was a mover and a shaker, he was exciting to be around, and he always had something interesting going on. He had many passions. He was an excellent cook. His chocolate cake, date cookies and fudge were yummy. His hamburgers would melt in your mouth, and his turkey sandwiches were out of this world. He loved antique shops, collecting automobile memorabilia including oil cans and hub caps, actually anything that took his eye. He played cribbage and was an avid euchre player. His biggest passion was restoring rusty pieces of junk back to the original. His specialties were gas pumps and trucks; his trucks won trophies at local car shows. Another passion was the U.P. he crossed the Mackinaw Bridge numerous times starting in 1957. He enjoyed fishing on the St. Mary's River and staying on Neebish Island. One of Terry's unfulfilled dreams was to live in the U.P.

Terry was a very generous person. He made himself available to help anyone he could, and he gave generously, especially to St. Jude. He could never understand why children get cancer.

Mike also had another part to his life! In 1970, he married Pam Hatfield after they met as students of the first Chippewa Hills graduating class. Together they moved around the state (Pam was adamant the Upper Peninsula was not going to be one of the posts Mike was assigned to!) and raised two fantastic children: Jessica (Jeff) Johnston and Adam (Terri Eudy) Forbes. Those two fantastic children went on to each raise two fantastic children of their own: Emma (Ben) Wenger, Zoey Johnston, twins Addy and Jaime Forbes. Zander Devon Hunter, 15, of Big Rapids

It is with the heaviest of hearts, we announce the loss of Zander Devon Hunter. Our "Gingie Boy," "Z," our favorite Little Redhead, was tragically taken from us far too soon on April 6, 2025 in Evart, MI. Zander was born September 13, 2009 in Big Rapids, MI and was just 15 years old when God called him home.

Zander leaves behind a parade of broken hearts: his parents, Dana (Jack) Webb and Rusty Hunter; his bonus parents, Jack Webb and Faith Dack; brothers, Bentley, Joshua, and Jay; sisters, Makayla and Ziggy; grandparents, Janie Durban, Cheryl Hunter, John Sidock Sr., and Dave Walters; aunts, Brandie Hunter, Jessica (Isaac) Dalton and Caitlin Beers; uncles, Daniel Durban, Craig Walters and John Sidock Jr. and numerous, great aunts & uncles, cousins, extended family and friends, whose lives he touched. Zander is predeceased by so many who loved him.

Zander was a mama's boy through and through but also loved his dad just as much. He was a big family guy who did everything with family and was always with family. He loved lake days with family and spent a lot of time at the skate park with his brothers and friends. Playing video games with his dads and brothers was a big hobby of Zander's as well, with Fortnite being a favorite. No matter what, he never missed a night without giving everyone a goodnight hug and made sure to say "I love you." A very thoughtful, loveable, happy, always smiling, laughing, and joking human with an infectious smile. He was always being silly, but could be very serious too. He was so soft hearted, with a heart of pure gold.

Zander had the kindest soul and biggest heart so, if you needed help, he didn't hesitate to volunteer. He always had a very inquisitive mind especially in his younger years. He could talk your ear off and was always so full of questions that filled that smart brain of his before he could speak.

When Zander was 17 months old, he had his left kidney removed but continued with his big cheesy smiles. “He was such a tough cookie”, as his Grandma Shirl would always say. Zander wanted to do construction when he got older. He was handy, enjoyed building, putting things together, and was always so proud of his work. Zander made a lot of things for his Dad in shop class.

The legacy Zander leaves behind will forever remain in our hearts and minds. His big heart, kind soul, big cheesy smiles & silly faces set him apart. He will always be remembered by that bright orange hair, his freckles and dimples.

We will always aspire to love so hard the way you effortlessly did, Zander Devon. We love you with all our hearts and souls forever & always. We will always be so proud of you, we were truly blessed with the time we got with you. Until we meet again Sweet Gingie Boy. #Forever15

Jimmy Gaye Westman, 94, of Cadillac

Jimmy Gaye Westman (Jim), born March 30, 1931, in Cadillac, Michigan, passed away peacefully on his 94th birthday, March 30, 2025. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he found great fulfillment. His love for his country and the camaraderie of service were lifelong sources of pride. After his time in the military, he worked as a laborer for General Motors and reminisced about those days often.
After returning from service abroad, he met and married the love of his life, Catherine Stenke. They were married 60 years until Cathy’s passing in 2015. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. In the summer they could be found at the family cottage, where all were invited for picnics, boat rides, card games and campfires. Later in life they spent many years as snowbirds in Florida where they had a great community of friends.
Family meant everything to Jim. He was deeply devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His favorite tradition was the annual family pig roast where generations gathered to celebrate, share stories, and make memories. He especially treasured his role as a grandpa and great grandpa—always volunteering to don an embarrassingly funny costume for the Labor Day Boat Parade.
Jim could never pass up a good laugh. He was infamous for his one-liners. Phrases like “Look out for Johnny—Johnny Law”, “It ain't rich, it's good”, “You're weird” and “Who?” hold special meaning to those around him.
Jim always found joy in the simple things. A good game of cribbage or a puzzle were common ways to while away an afternoon. He loved the anticipation of his scratch-off tickets and actually had a big winner once.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, golfing, or simply enjoying nature—watching the seasons change on the little lake where he spent so many years later in life. In his younger years, he also played competitive hockey, and passed that love down to the rest of the family.
Jimmy is survived by his children: Mike (Pam) Westman, Terri (John) LaVoy, Scott (Terrie) Westman, and Marty (Kathy) Westman; his sister, Joyce Kidder; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with one more expected; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Tyra Margaret Westman; his cherished wife Catherine; his siblings Gordon, George Jr, Dean and Yvonne; and a beloved nephew, Dennis Westman, who was like a brother to him.
A memorial service to honor Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 AM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McLaren Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Jimmy Westman leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Kathleen Grawburg, 78, of Lakeview

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kathleen Grawburg of Lakeview, Michigan. Kathleen departed from this world surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 78 on March 30, 2025. She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Maurice and Catherine. Her life was a journey that involved a variety of jobs, homes, and pastimes. This included working in law enforcement in Leland, Michigan; a 25 year career working for Meijer, first in the executive office in Grand Rapids and later at the Newport Distribution Center; and working as a CASA volunteer for the Montcalm County Court. In Lakeview, Kathleen was a volunteer with the Tamarack District Library, and a spark plug behind the establishment of the Lakeview Area Veterans Monument. She loved to golf, fish, and read. She was 100% certain that her next adventure would be traveling to the pearly gates of Heaven.

After moving to Lakeview 15 years ago, she quickly adapted to the community. She married John, whom she fondly called “my boyfriend,” and with whom she had many happy outings and adventures. One of her favorite pastimes on the farm was spending time with animals, including her towering black Percheron, Mr. Big. She also loved the woods and spent many hours walking, and later riding with John and their dogs in the ATV. Kathleen was especially proud of her grandchildren and she was often found with John on various outings to watch them play football, ride at the rodeo, sing in church, present their baked goods at the annual 4-H auction, or just about anywhere they invited her. You could find Kathleen and John on a summer’s day, fishing with Emmett and Suzanne, making memories, if not catching any fish.

Kathleen leaves behind the love of her life, John Grawburg. While not having children of her own, she quickly adopted six grandchildren without too much question. She is survived by her husband and six grandchildren: Levi and Tucker Hubbard along with their parents, Joe and Rebecca; Amelia, Cora, Suzanne, and Emmett Grawburg, along with their parents, Lucas and Kadren; one brother, Phil (Peggy) of Oregon, and a host of nieces and nephews. Marilyn was an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes. She was known for her lemon bars, a potluck favorite and her banana bread and caramel corn that were special Christmas treats.

She had many hobbies including bowling, participating in a national tournament, card and board games and online playing Words with Friends. Marilyn loved to camp and fish. She could often be found on a summer day, with her dog Molly, fishing on Tamarack Lake in her paddleboat, casting for big bass.

She will be remembered for her generosity, strength, and devotion to her family. A celebration of Kathleen's life was held at Brigham Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 4 with visitation from 11:00-1:00, and service at 1:00 with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

Darwin Booher, 82, of Evart

To know him, was to love him- and for that we have been blessed. Former Senator Darwin L. Booher, lifelong Evart resident, passed away in Grand Rapids on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 82. Darwin was born, in Evart, on September 19, 1942, at Rohen’s Maternity House, to Darrel and Cleo (Knoop) Booher. In 1961, he graduated from Evart High School and began his life’s journey, in banking, as a family man, public servant, and farmer.

On August 1, 1964 he married Janice M. Gauld in Cadillac. They made their home in Evart where they raised their children and opened their home to 10 exchange students from all over the world. Darwin worked his way up the corporate ladder from vault teller to vice president at First National Bank, later becoming Citizens Bank. In 2005, he became a selfless representative with a servant's heart for the state of Michigan. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 2005-2010 and served his district as Senator from 2011-2018. Darwin always hoped his family understood why he did it. Janice and Darwin always looked forward to traveling, family vacations, and as they got older, occasionally, testing their luck at the casino.

Darwin was an avid hunter and fisherman who was happiest when he could spend time with his grandchildren or on his tractor farming. He believed in learning by doing. Darwin typically taught his grandchildren how to drive on farm implements, that usually came back with a dent or two, led to numerous memories, and innovative fabrication. Darwin always put his loving family first and in his last moments conveyed that he would have a canoe oar waiting for his brother, Ernie and his dancing shoes ready for his wife, Janice.

Left to treasure the memories they have of Darwin are: his beloved wife of 60 years, Janice; four children, Kimberly (RJ) Booher-Hammer of Evart, Chad (Amy) Booher of Evart, Jason Booher of Florida and Meko Olman of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Logan (Lindsay) Hammer, Andrew (Makenzie) Booher, Madison Hammer, Christian Booher, Aidan Olman and Jacob Booher; one great grandson, Liam Hammer; step great-grandchildren, Michael and Cameron Triboletti; brother, Ernie Booher of Evart; in-laws, Robert Sherman and Chuck (Robin) Keysor; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
